College Counseling

All Cristo Rey Atlanta students (grade 9-12) participate in our very own college fair hosted on site. We have had over 80 schools in attendance representing every region of the united states. 

Our school partners with the education consulting company, Access 2 Admission to provide expert coaching and college-bound programming for our school community. Coaches meet with each student one-on-one, organize college information sessions and school tours to ignite a college-going culture within the school. Additionally, the Access 2 Admission team provides Persistence Coaches, supporting students beyond high school until their graduation from college.

Our Knowledge for College seminars take place during the school day and provide protected time for students in grade 11 and 12 to work on all aspects of the their student portfolio for college:  Career Exploration, Resume Building, Researching Schools and Building a Personalized College List, Essay Writing, and Earning Scholarships. Parents are also invited to special Knowledge for College Nights as a means of educating them on the process of navigating the competitive nature of college admissions and to assist them with maximizing financial aid wards.

By the Spring semester of senior year our students have already applied to college. Our College 101 course explores topics relevant to a student successfully navigating their first year in college. Topics include navigating a syllabus, campus safety, financial literacy, and more!

All students are taught strategy for earning tens of thousands of dollars in scholarship and grant funds for college. Students are supported by the Access 2 Admission Coaches with interview coaching, essay writing, and scholarship applications to earn top awards.

Most common scholarship programs are QuestBridge, PosseAtlanta, Madeleine Jude Brown Scholarship, 5 Strong Scholarship, Evans Scholarship, Dell Scholars, Gates Scholars, and more.

Our mission is to have 100% of our students participate in at least one college summer enrichment experience before they begin senior year.  We encourage students in all grades to participate and all students are able to apply for financial support with summer tuition expenses.

Beginning in ninth grade, top academic performers are invited to apply as Caddy's through our partnership with the Western Golf Association. Students are able to engage in college readiness, leadership development, and paid caddy experiences that will qualify them to apply for The Evans Scholarship, a full tuition and housing college scholarship for high-achieving caddies. Western Golf Association Website

Cristo Rey Students are encouraged to explore study-abroad opportunities while in high school. Our partnership with Student Diplomacy Corps is an opportunity to join other high school students from across the nation to access dynamic study away programs that build college readiness and deepens empathy.

Each May, we celebrate where our seniors will attend college! This fun and exciting event is one of the highlights of our year and ignites a spark for the underclassman to actively achieve their own post-secondary education goals.
