The Ignatian Family Teach-In is an annual gathering of members of the Ignatian family, which includes Jesuit institutions and organizations. The event is organized by the Ignatian Solidarity Network, a national social justice network inspired by the spirituality of St. Ignatius of Loyola, the founder of the Jesuits.
The event began in 1997 out of a response to the deaths of the Jesuit Martyrs of El Salvador and their companions. Today, the Teach-In has grown into a major national event, attracting thousands of participants from Jesuit colleges, universities, high schools, and parishes, as well as other organizations inspired by Ignatian spirituality.
The Teach-In typically takes place in November in Washington D.C. and includes keynote speakers, workshops, and advocacy opportunities. The event is also an opportunity for participants to engage in advocacy work, with a focus on issues such as immigration reform, climate change, and racial justice. The Teach-In culminates with a public witness event on Capitol Hill, where participants gather to pray, reflect, and call on elected officials to work towards justice and peace. Cristo Rey Atlanta Jesuit is a proud member of the Ignatian Solidarity Network and sends a delegation of students to this event every year.
